Wore my harris tweed skirt today for the first time
(pics in the DIY section--I was too lazy to post them twice)
Since it is Sunday, I thought it would be the perfect day to wear my newly finished skirt-- it had a proper initiation when it got caught between my toddler and me in a battle of wills during church. It's definitely a sturdy skirt, not at all like wearing the other skirts that I own. It is very comfortable though, a little itchy, but otherwise very comfortable.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience. It's warm, it twirls magnificently, and I felt so very celtic in it all morning Also, I perfected the "pleat sweep" in no time.
I can see why you guys love this so much Definitely a better experience than last time!

Watch out - you'll be sewing up more wool before you know it.
You are so lucky to get Harris tweed - what with all the shenanigins going on with it over the last few years.
It certainly makes a beautiful skirt.

I was worried about how itchy it would be the first time I wore a Harris Tweed kilt. I didn't know how I'd be able to tolerate it against my skin, but found I got used to it quite quickly, and now I don't notice it at all. But I seem to have a very high tolerance for itchy wool. :-)
I'm glad you got to put your new skirt to good use so soon.

Sounds like a good first day out, Ali. And the final score was,...skirt 1,...toddler 0.
