Worried for Nothing: Kilts with Z Coil Shoes

So, before I became addicted to kilts I had foot problems that Z Coil shoes solved well www.zcoil.com for the curious. They worked and I was back in regular shoes by the time I was into full time kilting. Did wear Z Coil hiking boots with kilts back in the begining.

Since, I've pretty much thought they were a bit too much to wear with kilts - even though GMan and I have done it. I just quit.

Well, last week my feet started hurting with a vengence again...this time that random electric shock nerve stuff, worse at night. Went a few days with little sleep last weekend.

Decided, what the heck, my comfort was more important - but I sure worried that kilts with Z Coils would get me teased and many curious questions.

So yesterday I wore Z Coils with my Ireland's National semi-traditional kilt from USA Kilts. No one said a thing other than one client complimented the tartan.

Today I wore Z Coils with my weathered Gordon from Celtic Croft and again, other than a coworker's compliment for the weathered Gordon tartan no one said a thing, until the end of group tonight when a client asked sincerely about the Z Coils, wanting to know if they might help his foot pain.

So, after all that fear and all that worry I've worked 21 hours in two days, seen 34 clients individually and in group, hung around over 40 coworkers, and done my chores around town wearing a kilt and Z Coil shoes at the same time and no one teased me. Go figure.

The worst things I ever imagined never actually happened.

Here's a pic from my office tonight.

Now just get a pair of Ghillie Brogue laces and the ensemble would be complete. O'Neille

the shoes look fine to me. I'm all about comfort over fashion.

as for the fears, I've found that most of the social fears we have never come to fruition, if nothing more than because most other people have the same type of fears, and won't say anything!

The shoes look fine with the kilt Ron. I get worried like that sometimes with wearing the kilt and what will go with it and what won't. You wear your kilt proudly, and you aren't hurting when you walk, so it's all good.

They look fine, but do you mind if I call you Spring-Heeled Jack? (reference to an old paranormal case in England)
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

I was just about to mention Ghilie laces also The shoes look fine to me as well. So many uniforms now require black tennis shoes of some sort that people probably don't notice as much any more.

Tell me a bit about the vest Ron. Is that one of Freedom kilts new vests? I've been getting the itch to try a vest in lieu of sweaters as the weather gets cooler.

Those are tennis shoes? If they are, coulda fooled me....

I like those shoes... put a spring in your step, if you will....

And as for Ghillie laces - personally, I can't stand the look.... I will only do it if I am ultimately invited to join a pipe band, otherwise, no way......

I am half inclined to buy brogues and use regular laces....

    Hey CavScout,

The Filson vest is just another addiction. When I was a kid in the mines I had a Filson cruiser jacket, loved it. A few years ago I came across it, of course it was way to small, but went to the Filson website www.filson.com and got me one that fit.

Filson, being one of those ancient companies that first made clothing for the Alaska Gold Rush ain't cheap - but they offer quality goods you can pass on to future generations.

This is their wool vest. I took off their plain buttons and sewed on some buffalo head nickel buttons I found on the Internet. Anyhow, both their price and quality fit well with hand sewn kilts.
