    WOW! Just... WOW!

So, I've been patiently waiting on a raise here. I've been pretty "off kilter" when compared with the other supervisor/cell leaders in terms of pay. But, I've bided my time... been thankful for the wonderful position and the kilt funder I have. I guess that paid off today. I knew I was going to get a substantial raise with my pending promotion. But, without stating my salary, substantial is an understatement. I was informed my salary will be increasing by 23% effective (tentively) April 1. Hmm... hope it's not a sick April Fool's joke...

So, when I told the wife... she goes on babbling about hard wood floors.. leather couches... blaaa blaahh h bhabljab. I INFORMED her, I was going to be celebrating with a healthy portion of worsted wool. She was so excited, she didn't argue any... just agreed happily. Now I have to decide what I want to do. I've got three wool kilts I've been lusting after... and have a different kilt maker in mind for each...

    1. USAF (pipe band tartan for the USAFR, but hey it's Air Force the way I see it.) Barb said she could have it custom woven by Daghlish in 16 oz. (it's only readily available in 11 oz from Strathmore.) So, she would be the one to sew this one...

    2. New Mexico "Land of Enchantment" This tartan, I found out sometime back, is not actually the official state taran. But, it's a fashion tartan designed by Polly Whittering (sp?) and woven by HofE in a beautiful 13 oz. cloth. (I have a swatch) She's the same lady that designed the Irish tartans woven by Edgar. Kathy Lare keeps this stuff by the bolt in her shop and is the sole carrier of it (I believe.) I would have her sew this one...

    3. MacDonald of Glencoe-
Due to the Henderson ties with Clan Donald at Glencoe, I've wanted this tartan for some time. HofE weaves it in muted colours in 13 oz. cloth. Mowgli's recent box pleat acquisition in this tartan has reallllly got me heated up for it. I would like to have Rocky sew this one up. He's done such a fine job with the three PV kilts I have from them, I just know it would be fantastic...

    Decisions, decistions....

Congratulations on what is obviously a well deserved raise and promotion. The only problem that I see is jonesing three kilts!!

    Keep us informed.

As much as I would like to go for all three (I will, just not all at once anyway) I've got to decide on one for now. And, even that one will be in a month or so anyway...

Take your time and get 1 per month... don't over spend until you start getting PAYCHECKS from the new promotion... ;)
