Wretched Excess, and String the knitting Thing

I have wanted hand-knit kilt hose for a while now, but never really thought I'd take the plunge. I mean, come now, HAND-KNIT kilt hose? Get real. Hand-knit hose is truly wretched excess. However, Lo and Behold, a certain forum member named Miz "String", confidante and main squeeze of forum member "Yeti"...yes, she of the magnificent bowler hat, turns out to be a whiz-bang knitter. You should look at her website and blog. The woman positively goes into spasms over skeins of yarn.

You think this is funny, don't you? Well, look in the mirror, X-Markers who get glazed eyes at the notion of X number of yards of worsted wool tartan. This, BTW, is me.

    harrumph.

Now, I'm all for Do It Yourself, but there are limits and knitting an entire pair of knee-high kilt hose is beyond my limits. So I PM'd Miz String and we commenced negotiations and I sent a check and a piece of paper with oodles of measurements of my shapely (eat your heart out, Grant) calves and ankles and her finals are hopefully over and now I have the most AMAZING jones. See, String PM'd me today and said she'd started my socks.

    *hyperventilates*

GO GO GO, String! Sheesh. I'm acting immature. It's just a flippin' pair of SOCKS. sort of.

Perhaps if the assembled multitudes of X-Markers beg, cajole and whine, she will consent to posting a stitch-by-stitch view of kilt socks in the making, or write up what it takes to develop the skill to knit your own pair of kilt socks.

I know exactly what you mean Alan, I can not wait for the hand knit hose Arlen's wife Diane is knitting for me, why just today there was a message from Diane saying they are almost done

This jones is worse than anything, I just can not wait, extravagant, luxurious you bet, but ask Cloves I'm sure she would say hand knit hose are worth it.

Grant will have you know that his legs are "willlowy" like some wonderful distant grove of trees that no one ever bothers to visit...

Talent abounds here! Congrats on the new hose! I told some of the church ladies that if they wanted to become independently wealthy, they should give up knitting blankets and start knitting kilt hose!!
**I didn't tell the nuns this, though, because they couldn't keep the cash any way!

Darn good thing I wasn't taking a drink when I read this. Hate to ruin yet another monitor and keyboard because of some Xmarker's comments.
