The Wrong Time of the Year

While out and about during my lunchbreak, a youth paid me a complement "nice kilt". Then he spoiled it by adding "but it's the wrong time of year".
I hadn't heard that one before, was taken by surprise and made no reply. With hindsight I should have informed him that every day is Kilt Day.

I wonder if he was referring to it not being a holiday or the time of the year. When having worn my kilt in cold weather, most all of my friends expected me to be freezing later on in the evening. As it turned out, I was perfectly comfortable while those in more "modern" dress were freezing themselves.

Re: The Wrong Time of the Year

I've already had a "cold weather" comment from a guy at work. His question was would I continue to wear a kilt in the cold. Dressed in my Elkommando, a raggwool sweater, hat and gloves I responded "Yes, ive got my sweater gloves and hat on." He had to continue saying "thats now what I meant". I questioned why his concern about that, isnt that a bit strange, then told him "If it is really cold I may hold a pence or two less in my coin purse but nothing more." Everyone in the breakroom had a good laugh.

So there are *seasonal* kilt comments?? I wonder what they are going to be this coming Spring?

A gentleman asked me the other day if I was cold. With eight yards of worsted wool on, I told him I was actually very warm.

    -----------

the most frigid clothing I can recall wearing are blue jeans. Ever get into a car after walking around in the winter while wearing them? They are cold and stiff and it's uncomfortably cold to bend the legs to sit in a car (even after a short walk from the mall to the car)...

The upcoming winter will be my first one in a kilt ... I shall be interested to see how it goes.

Hi Alec, you know that loads of guys in Scotland have and own kilts especially with the cheap variety on sale everywhere but what do these guys do with their kilts most of the year, it seems they only get worn about once a year. We need an education programme in Scotland to get guys in to kilts more often.
