WWI Canadian 42nd Highlander pic
While on another forum trying to learn how to work leather I came across this picture of a member's grandfather. So, with his permission I'm posting it here for everyone to see. His grandfather served with the Canadian 42nd Highlanders during WWI in France. Here he is kilted. I think it's very sharp indeed. Oh, and the guy still has his grandfather's sporran.

What a great family heirloom! And the photo to go with it to explain what the heck it is to future generations is a real blessing.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

That's a great photo!
I used to have some of my great-uncles in their WW1 kilts, but they got destroyed in a flood about 20 years ago.
Having said that, I have one of a cousin as a boy in 1922 in a kilt. I even have one of a great-uncle in the 1880s in, what looks like, a knitted 'kilt' of sorts with him being about 2 years old!

Wonderful photo, and nice heirloom indeed.

Thanks for sharing the pict. It would be great to see more people dressed that way today.

Extremely well turned out. A fine example of how the kilt is worn.
