    X Marks Tartan run 2

    OK guys, with all the new members I posted on another thread that perhaps we should see how many would be interested in a second run of the X Marks Tartan.

    To re-cap the last order:

    The Tartan Sett was designed by our own Matt Newsome. (see the wallpaper here, or visit riverkilt's photo album to see his kilt.

    The tartan is woven by Fraser & Kirkbright Mills of Vancouver BC, Canada.

    It is 14 oz. Australian Melton Wool.

    The cost per meter is $53.00 cdn.
    There is a 7% Goods and Services Tax(GST) on all orders IAW Canadian law.
    We need a minimum order of 25 meters.

    I am willing to handle the ordering and shipping again but I require some things up front. I will need to add a 10% handling charge. I will be using my shop for receiving the fabric, cutting it to length, boxing and shipping it to those who order, and handling paying the mill.
    I will ask that we have a minimum of 25 meters ordered and payed for before I ask the mill to begin.

    I will ship the fabric to you directly or to any kiltmaker of your choice. Shipping costs will depend on where you are.

    Anti up folks, who would like to have a kilt made from the world's first internet Tartan?

    If enough of you post about your interest I will set everything up. And keep everyone informed here.

    This might be a stupid question, but I'm an American. We're still stuck in the old Imperial system. How much should we order to get an 8 yard kilt, flashes & plaid out of it?

    You'll need 4 yards for the kilt. Another yard for the plaid and flashes.
    Total, 5 yards.
    The fabric is 60" wide, and will come measured in Meters so you will actually get an extra 20".

    I would be interested, but not right now. I have to pay off the credit card from previous kilt related purchases!

    I was just wondering. Was the tartan ever registered?

    Put me down for...

    Put me down for at least 2 meters, depending on when the order goes in I may go up to 4 meters.

    I am guessing right now we are just in the planning stages, and soon we will have a place on your site to purchase it again.

    Steve once again thanks for doing this.

    I submitted the paperwork to the Scottish Tartans Authority some time ago, and in October I gave them a cutting off of the cloth that was originally ordered, so they have it in their records.

    It does not show up on their web site as of yet, but I think they only update the site every so often. Hopefully it will show up in their next update.

    Okay, so if I wanted an 8 yard kilt it would be 8 yards for the kilt and another yard for plaid and flashes.

    Steve, thanks for letting me know how much I'd need for plaid and flashes.

    But the real meaning of my question was, how many meters does that work out to?

    As a VERY rough estimate a meter is just a bit bigger than a yard.
    Yard = 36"
    Meter = 39"

    Your going to order yards but you will get meters. which is like a bonus. A little more than you asked for.

    And because the fabric is double wide you only need to order 4 meters for an 8 meter kilt.
