    Question XMTS 2008 Tartan

So, tell me, what are you going to make, or get made, with your part of this year's X Marks Tartan run?

I've ordered 10 yards in order to make the following:

    1 x 4 yard box kilt
    1 x 6 yard double box kilt
2 x 5 yard kilts both military pleated to different stripes.

That should keep me occupied for a while. The double box kilt looks to be the hardest as I've no idea how to do the doubles, but I'm really looking forward to doing it. As one member, whose name I forget, says "can'twaitcan'twaitcan'twait"!

How about you? What is yours going to be?

either 2x pleated to a stripe, or 1 pleated to stripe and one double-box. (both 6yd)

I think for the double boxes, you'll want two setts per pleat, 1/5 of that on the reveal, the other 4/5 split evenly hidden beneath that. That's just from the rough bit of playing I did last night

I'm linking this just in case you haven't seen the diagram of double-box pleating on Lady Chrystel's site.

The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer.

    1 x 8 yd pleated to the ... hmm ... pleated to the ... er, I don't know yet.
(Where's that picture the Wizard posted of different pleatings ...)

1 x ... well, I better decide what I'm going to do with the other half first.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

For me, it's going to turn into 1 military box pleated kilt. Now, I just have to get done with my knife pleated kilt first.
