My fave at present is my USAK American Heritage semi trad. Warm California weather, cool PV. Great hang, fine swish and a beautiful tartan. I usually switch up my kilts for gigs, but I've worn the USAK AH to the last three...

What's your current "go to" warm weather kilt?

My favs for warm weather are my 4 yard box pleat kilts from Matt Newsome, they work wonderfully in the heat.

A 13 oz. 5-6 yd in Weathered Robertson that looks like a tank. Add a light sporran, light wool hose in khaki, and a cotton khaki shirt, and you have a pretty good summer outfit.

These are not the lighter weight hose, but they're pretty good, too.

My fave go-to warm weather kilt is my American Heritage USAK casual. But I've got two other USAK PV Semi-Trad kilts (one from the most recent XMTS tartan run, and a Thompson Grey). All three of them work remarkably well in warmer weather.

I don't know what the USAK casual will be like this winter (the Thompson Grey got a bit nippy in Chicago in the winter, and the casual doesn't even have the weight of the Semi-Trad kilts to keep it down). I expect it will be put away for the winter along about Halloween or so.

And then I'll pull my 3 wool SWK's out of storage.

Ain't life grand?

I only know warm weather. Winter here is a day or two of frost on the grass, then back to the upper 50's by 2pm.

My go to kilt year round is the one in my avatar. 13oz, 7 yards in MacGregor Tartan.

I have 3 other kilts, a PV, a cotton twill, and a 16oz wool... but there's nothing like my 13oz for comfort and style in the tropics.

edit: In the summer, flip flops are part of the dress code in Florida. Be prepared to show off some leg, since you won't be wearing kilt hose with your flops.

Today I was wearing my Ancient Lindsay, but I can tell that soon it will be just to hot for the glove fit 14 oz wool. The two kilts that seem to have bubbled to the surface being worn more and more as the weather gets warmer are my Buzz Kidder and the SWK Irish Saffron. Both seem to go well with lighter weight shirts and the solid colors allow me to break out (GASP) my Hawaiian Shirts!

My footwear of choice are my collection of multi colored croc's, so to keep em guessing I'll mix it up with greens, reds, pinks and oranges. I have a friend who says I'm tasteful but unique.

A USAK Casual (Scotlands National) is my first choice for summer wear.

For me, probably my 13 oz 9-yard Lennox District wool kilt. Used to do the Utilikilt thing, but, am all-traditional now. Will eventually get myself a Freedom Kilt or two to replace the UK's that I owned.

For hot weather, I tend to my USAK American Heritage Semi-trad., or my House of Edgar 5 yard casual 16 oz. Both wear very well in the heat of summer here.

Here in southern California today it was in the lower 70's. I wore my brand new 8 yard 13 oz. wool Anderson Modern today for the first time. I prefer warmer weather to cooler, but I think mid 70's or so is going to be about the limit for outdoor wear with this kilt.

I bought this because I wanted a "real" kilt to wear to the Highland Games the end of June instead of my Anderson Sportkilt, but if it's normal June weather the weekend for the games it may get a bit toasty.

I was out and about on Monday in my 5 yd. USAK Semi-Trad in the U.S. Navy tartan in honor of all of my comrades who are "still on patrol" and I think there are going to have to be a couple more of the semi-trads in the closet for warm weather.

I have 9 yards of X Marks tartan waiting for ChattenCat to turn into a kilt, I wonder if I could get two 4.5 yard kilts, one pleated to the yellow stripe and the other to the sett?
