LONG kilt hose
It's fall in Michigan and soon I'll be up to my sporran in snow ;-) I have a late-season Games scheduled and plan to keep hiking until the weather is just gawd-brutal.
I'm looking for suggestions for some thicker and perhaps longer kilt hose. I have calves like popcorn cans and hose usually slide down unless I strangle my legs with a good pair of garder flashes. Since they fall down with all the activity--thought--why not start with longer hose???
Ideas? Suggesstions? Links???

I'm sure there are more companies that make them but this is the first that popped into my mind.
They also sell them in cotton if wool bothers you skin.

Reason: more info
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Sock dreams are probably the longest hose I know of. Don't let the "hottie" on the front page fool you. They do have socks that will work for men.
Steve at Freedom Kilts has the Heritage hose which appear to be the best option fro your snow hikes. They are incredibly thick. You might want to talk with him as far as how long they are.
The Piper hose are very long, thick and comfortable also and they look really good too. I wear these all the time now.

You can even try Hamilton Dry Goods for some inexpensive socks but you will want to stay away from the cotton ones of course if you will be out in the snow for long hikes.

Scottishlion sells the piper hose in a variety of colors for about $22 a pair, free shipping over $100 order. It says on the website that they are acrylic, but only the white ones are acryllic while the colors are predominantly wool. Very long socks with a piper popcorn top that can be rolled over a couple times at least (even on me an I am 6'5"). heavy weight and very long.

Hawick Hose, Lewis Line from Matt at the Scottish Tartan Museum if you want plain colours, or Pete at Canadian Casual Kilts if you want Argyll tops. They are long enough unless you're 8 feet tall.

I'm 6' 5" and Cavscout has hooked me up with some hose that, when unfolded go way up my leg. The top is well up my thigh.

The Scottishlion's piper hose are 80% acrlic and 20% nylon.
Cavscout's are 70% wool, 30% nylon which are more expensive so... How do the scottishlion's hose wear?

I have not paid attention to the content but I would believe others who have stated that the non -white/ cream Scotishlions have a fair amount of wool content.
As to wear I have only worn them a couple of times [been concentration on other things this summer] but they are quite comfortable and stay up well on my skinny legs.
cheers
