    Yes on the 1st July the proper aniversary of the repeal of the tartan (Monday First July 1782)

    Agreed. Note that Proscription and the Repeal referred to Highland clothes not tartan.

    The date of Tartan Day in the US is associated to the date of the Declaration of Arbroath and it's similarity to our Declaration of Independence.
    Therefore April 6.

    And the other thing it is a US holiday that celebrates Scottish heritage. That's a good thing, especially considering how younger people in the US and Europe don't know their own history, culture and civics.
