    If the Church is ok with it then DO IT!

    After months of planning our wedding with both sides of our families wanting this and that we got married at the Courthouse
    on our lunch break.

    As ctbuchanan already suggested much earlier in this thread, pinning of the tartan is appropriate once wedding vows have been exchanged.
    I am not aware of any tradition involving a sword at a Scottish wedding.

    This thread has hung on for over then months now and the OP long ago decided to skip using the sword in the service, instead relegating it to cut the cake, which I suppose is not that unusual although a dirk would serve just as well. Can we let it die now?
