Well done, all!
I really have to pay attention. This is one of the gatherings I want to visit, since I grew up due south of there (over the border). Some of my musical mentors taught at St....

I believe they have German Heritage in 16-oz wool or PV, both from Marton Mills.

I'd recommend that you email to Scotweb's help address. Their customer service is usually terrific.

I have very scant experience with shops where prices are in guineas, but I translate that as "I can't afford it!"

Update on Highland Mist. I have the actual fabric in my hands. It was expected about a month ago, but given the vagaries of domestic and world-wide shipping right now, I'm just glad to have it!

My avatar (above) is just such a fabric. It's the Carolina tartan, officially adopted by the US states of North and South Carolina. It was woven about 10+ years ago.
It's much more economical ...

Marton Mills has a wool version of their polyviscose Warrior tartan. It's called Highland Mist, in the 16-ounce Jura range of tartans. You can find it from MM, clan.com, or your favorite kiltmaker....

I usually wear Wallace muted (by House of Edgar), although MacGregor red and green is also a good choice.

What's the range of a piccolo? It's lethal to 20 yards. Also works for Great Highland Pipes, of course.
How do you tune two piccolos? Shoot them both.

I'd like to do the trad class again.

Thanks Barb. Those are pretty!
I'm with Anne: in lower yardage, the tartan will probably tell us what to do. Planning a 4-yard box pleat in MacGregor, I tried pinning it up to white stripes &...

Alas, I did not make it. The day before Palm Sunday was not an auspicious time for me. I wish they had pushed it back to the 10-11th, if they were trying to avoid Easter weekend.
Anyone? POIDH.

Benning Boy,
I was just poking around Dalgleish's site, and behold: American District is listed in stock in 11/15 ounce fabric, double width. Given Ron's good advice, I'd ask my chosen kiltmaker...

Nelson and Bill,
Thanks for putting us in the picture, and especially for conveying our thoughts and feelings to Chris.

I'm late to the party (as usual), but I feel compelled to add to the hypothetical responses: I did! at precisely the price point of a USAK casual, in fact.

First: good lighting. I love my Ott-Lites, big time.
Second, even if you have not encountered the dreaded presbyopia of middle-age, try out some reading glasses (plus 1-2 range) to help prevent...

And now you know what frosts my...
