My usual summer wear is a 4 yrd box pleat wool kilt (it's cooler), short sleeve dress shirt or even a polo style shirt. Thinner socks (not wool) help a lot.

I prefer my Utilikilt (Workman's model) for yard work. Heavy, washable, and tough to damage. But this model can be quite warm at times.
