For as handy as so many members of this board seem to be, I'm surprised that this hasn't been the tone of this thread.
Cider is shockingly easy to make - even easier than many beer kits. And...

Glad to see I'm not the only guy on here fighting to keep White German Shepherd hair off his kilts. Nice choice on your kilt, and dog!

It makes a lot of sense for them to use a tartan close to, but not exactly Royal Stewart - nice and familiar, instantly takes the mind to Scotland, and yet, is fully Trademark-able.
-
When I started wearing my kilts to work, one of my regular customers pointed and asked "Why you wearing a kilt?" my answer was simple - "Why are you wearing pants?"
Another answer, if the question...

Thanks, Matt - a treat to see the pictures... Can only imagine how nice it was in person!
-
I'm going to gave to sit down with this when I have an hour or so to kill. Thanks for sharing!
-
Those detail shot could maybe make a grown man weep, Matt. Beautiful. It's shots like that that will pull me away from machine stitching soon enough.
-
Another interesting point on this kilt is that there seems to be no taper in the fell... No wonder they wanted suspender buttons.
-
Wow... Sure looks like the centuries have been kind to that wool!
Thanks for sharing - there's a lot of interesting things to see here.
I've only seen pictures of a couple of kilts pleated to...

This definitely shouldn't be overlooked.
One of the biggest mistakes that people make taking portraits is "zooming out" to fit the whole person in. For a lot of digital cameras, that's about equal...

They're all the same size, from what I gather. The "Short piece" is folded to show what it would look like worn. The "Long piece" is just unfolded to show the part that's usually tucked under the...

Very nice. Would it be rude to ask for a ballpark price range here?
-
Thanks, guys. Princess Margaret Rose it is. I actually prefer this with the sage stripe over the white, too - cuts down the Christmas effect, big time.
Funny thing is that I already made myself a...

One of my regular customers at the coffee shop recently gave me some tartan fabric, a lady's kilted skirt in Stewart Red, and a Clan Scott kilt pin. She said a friend had gotten them on a trip to...

Look at that! Matt owns pants!
The jacket looks great. Do you often pair shorter kilt jackets with trousers?
-
I need to learn to knit, or get some money together... I go green with envy whenever I look at these posts.
-
What's really getting me is that the twill direction seems to change a couple of inches before the fringe... Never seen that before.
A lot of wear in one place - where the thick red stripe meets...

Glad to finally have something to contribute to this thread! Homemade box pleat, four yards of PV. Gave it it's own thread at http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73085 but thought I'd...

Interesting... Looks like the interfacing does double duty here - canvas and stabilizer.
-
Hopefully you can open up that first pleat and correct that curve... Looks a lot like something that happened on the test fabric when I first figured out how to machine stitch from behind to keep the...

Very nice kit there.
Just the other day, I saw a hat made of that tartan, and was completely unable to name it, though I know I have on many occasions... It's been bugging me since. What's it's name?
-
Well now I feel bad for not letting you start it
-
It's funny - the distance shot seems to show the difference more than the closeup. Almost looks like canvas.
Does it have more of a scratchy feel, like Harris Tweed? If so, I'm sold.
-
Hmm... I'll keep that in mind while I re-read what you said to me in the mini kilt thread  jk jk...
I do think I'll have to adopt the "real name in the signature" philosophy, though.
