The reason why I posted this was because someone in the US asked as why the Scottish Saltire was dipped during the playing of the National Anthems. I hope I have answered this.

My regiment, The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) did not wear Hunting Stewart tartan until 1903, previously we wore the Black watch tartan.

Can I just say that in all the photos you look very smart. Being a "Royal Scot" Veteran, they are a couple of times I would have used the black brogues. Still, very smart.
