You may not recall as it's been a decent number of years at this point since I've been able to attend Grandfather, but we've met a couple times before!

Excited to see you all! One of the best parts of Grandfather, I think, is getting to see so many old friends every year.

Now that the all clear has been given and Grandfather is for sure on for this year (barring anything unforeseen between now and then, of course), who's planning to make their way to the mountain this...

As a fellow East Tennessean, I heartily approve! Well done!

Hook and loop and Velcro are one and the same, the latter is just a genericized trademark like Coke is for cola or Kleenex for facial tissue. :) It's the closure system on Casuals, so - if you're not...

I have both a few Semi-Traditionals and one Casual from USA Kilts in my collection. As far as versatility, I definitely recommend the Semi-Traditional. Having the complete appearance of a more...

After a few years absence, I may be having the chance to return this year; we shall see!

After having been not much involved in heritage events/culture/etc. for the past year and a half or so (for a variety of reasons), I've recently gotten involved once again and...what better way to...

Looking good as usual, Chuck! I've had a semi-traditional in Celtic Nations from Rocky for a few years now; it's definitely most worn beside my Douglas Modern 5-yarder, and I believe you may've...

I do hope they change their protocol for the drone this year; those of us on the field during the Torchlight Ceremony couldn't hear anything over it.

I smoke a pipe, but only custom blends from a few local shops. It can, and will, dry out if not stored properly; I suggest mason jars (which, keep in mind, come in a variety of sizes...not just quart...

Noticed this when browsing yesterday. Hoping to take advantage of it in order to get my fiancee her first mini-kilt for her birthday!

I'm sometimes glad I don't live within usual driving distance, as if that were the case I'd never have money of any sort.

Another great year at Grandfather! Enjoyed getting to see old friends and make new ones. Also got to participate in the Torchlight Ceremony and the Parade of Tartans - an exciting year!

Looks like we'll be there tomorrow night and Sunday. Who all is going to be around tomorrow?

This has always irked me because you cannot head west from the Cumberland Gap to Johnson City, TN...barring traveling around the entire globe, sans 75 miles or so. Otherwise, good song.

Yeah, the shuttles are school buses, so as long as you can cram it in with ya for the wild ride, you're good to go.

If any other weekend, as I'm only about 40 minutes from Asheville. I'll be on vacation starting this Saturday, though!

If any of you happen to know Samuel Machado, the North Carolina Regent for Clan Douglas which convenes at Grandfather, he was involved in a car accident a couple days ago; he suffered a major...

Avery County is not, legally, a dry county; it is, in effect, because there is nowhere to buy liquor in the county (yet), but the same legal regulations do not apply.

We'll definitely be returning this year; looking forward to seeing you fine folk once again!
