Doubt I'm gonna be much help with this one, but as far as SOME Pipe & Drum bands go, the diced bonnets are SOMETIMES reserved for the drummers in the band while the pipers don't have the dicing on...

I'll Play...Here's two that were just recently shot at Rock of Dunamase in Ireland.

Unfortunately there is no label. I'm curious because this is the second one of these I've seen offered for sale, by different sellers, that had advertised the exact same tartan as a military kilt....
-
So was this military issue then?
-
I'm not sure if this is a military tartan or not, but it has the double-pronged buckles like a military kilt. I thought it was Erskine, but the only search I do ont the web for "Erskine" comes up as...

I'm in a pipe band with my retired Battalion Chief and as a retirement gift we all chipped in to buy him a black bunker kilt. It was cool at first, but than the cool factor kind-of died off and now...

Here's my Seaforth Box Pleat....no elastic band, but mine is probably a little older and it could have been removed. I also just picked up an older (faded and everything) Cameron Highlander Box...

100% on everything Steve. Once I reversed the aprons, I discovered that the kilt is in fact a size or two too small. At its current length, the kilt is 25" long. Due to my height, i typically wear a...

OK. Two more pics. The first pic is the apron edge/profile of, what is now, the under apron.
The second pic is the apron edge of the top apron. I think we have this figured out...tell me what you...

L.T., this is the second authentic military kilt I purchased that only had the two straps on the outer apron, with no strap or button hole on the under apron. Someone on this forum (Matt N. or Wizard...

Yeah....it didn't jump out at me either. I was wearing the damned thing for 30 minutes before I noticed the reversed aprons!!
-
Steve, thanks for the detailed response. I really appreciate your recommendations on "troubleshooting" this kilt. Maybe we'll get this one figured out. I'll grab the kilt and post a few more pics...

-So there is something definitely uncommon about this kilt?
-So sterotypically, the overall general impression about a kilt that closes on the left hip means that it was designed for a woman?
-If...

I'll take a closer look at it when I get home tomorrow to see if the apon dimensions are much different.
Again...going on my limited experience, are both apons shaped the same on their ends or...
-
No there isn't and I don't see any previous evidence of there being one. Usually, you could see where there was a repair made on the inside of a kilt if a button hole was sewn up or moved, but...

piperdbh:
"It might work better if you take the bottom buckle & strap completely off the kilt and just use the top one."
I think that is what will eventually happen.
This kilt only has the two...

Here's another question: Are both the outter and under apron edges shaped the same way?
-
Yep...if not covering my floting ribs.
I think fella's who are...ahem...shorter in stature can't afford to wear their kilts too long...but that is just my inexperienced opinion.
-
Thanks for the replys & compliments everyone. The kilt is definitely too long, I'm 5'7 (give or take) and I usually wear my kilts at a 22" length. This kilt is 25" long and will be getting sent out...
-
Nope....both aprons are in great shape. Is this pretty uncommon to see the aprons reversed?
-
Let me start off by stating, that I don't post too often on the forum, because I know there is not a lot I can contribute to the discussion. But, I do tune in, close to, every day to see what's going...

This is a new-old kilt I just purchased off of Ebay for pretty cheap. I'm still waiting on delivery from Aberdeen, UK. For the life of me, I couldn't identify the tartan for the kilt. So, I figured...

Hey Ry, Where'd you get that belt?! Really Awesome.

I've done multiple searches on this forum ("what stitches, stitches, kilt stitches, etc.") for a list of stitches used when sewing a kilt and I've come up with nothing. Let me preface, by saying that...
