Cool thanks for the photo's .Looks like the beeswax treatment is not going into the leather just sitting on top. These are the white streaky marks that we can see on the photographs.

My grandmother was a Anderson. I not the big fan of the tartan ,but yours looks good. Is that a hunting or muted version?

So just thinking about the historical background and by 1943 Britain was in a war economy. How many military kilts where made in the later war years. The ones made must of had some cost cutting...
