My first kilt was made up in the Fraser Green Gathering Tartan, which is similar to a theoretical Coronation tartan in that it was created to celebrate a special event. I chose it because a) it had...

There's at least one somewhat-common Laphroaig tartan - picture here.

Honestly, if you're looking for community I would simply identify the most active Clan or Scottish Society in your area and join it. Most Scots were not members of Highland clans, even back at the...

Do you guys have a Cost Plus World Market near you?
I used to go there with my mom to get Scottish goods - small stuff like walker's shortbread and that orange marmalade from Dundee.

Groups of young men often do foolish things, especially when isolated from their girlfriends, parents, and other adults whom they might otherwise worry about embarrassing.

I believe they have been working on the redesign for several years now. It is a long process if done in-house.

Have you tried a different browser?
This is an issue I might email USA Kilts about.

A dark green sweater (especially an Aran-style cable knit piece) would be very nice with a saffron kilt if it were cold enough to justify one.

I think I'd endeavor to treat the saffron kilt just as I would a normal tartan kilt. I find a nice oxford-cloth (or poplin) tattersall shirt to be great for casual daywear.
It's a good question,...

Congrats! What kilt will you be wearing for the occasion?

It's too small for me, but would you mind showing a picture of the Fraser Hunting pleat job?
That's one Fraser tartan that's on my list, but I haven't decided on what configuration to order it in.

Happy (belated) birthday Steve - thanks for all you do here.
-
Nice - congrats on the find!
What will you make with it?

Great find, Richard, and I appreciate the point about the sporran. My next sporran purchase is likely to be a hunting sporran, and you may have just convinced me to go for a darker brown.

That's great feedback. My Boulder Boots are the widest shoes I've ever owned, and definitely my comfiest shoes. Now I'm really excited to try the Be Lankas.

Thistle does offer wide options, however they're still not "foot shape," and not very wide when you get down to it.
Would you share how you like the Be Lankas when you get them in? They look very...

I'm not sure they look much like Ghillies Brogues, but they sure do look comfy. I've heard some really great things about Sofstars.
I've been getting into barefoot shoes for the past two years or...

Thank you Glen, for your extensive contributions. I joined over 10 years ago now, but took a significant leave of absence. I've learned far more about Highlandwear in the past two years or so than I...

No need for apologies as long as you enjoyed yourself. :-)
I much enjoy a few pieces of shortbread with a glass of whisky - Walkers is widely available, and seems to pair well with everything I've...

Congrats!
The anticipation is hard to deal with. On the plus side, you'll get some relief soon!
Which tartan did you go with?

It's not specifically holiday music, but I really enjoy winter evenings with a fire, a dram, and Scottish fiddle music. Some of my favorite comes from Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas.

I can't answer either of your questions, but I would recommend you give them a call or shoot them an email for a quicker response. I think Rocky does check this forum occasionally, but I wouldn't...

I prefer the first line of the UNIX Philosophy, which is do make each program do one thing well (rather than adding all the things to one feature-rich program).
No reason you can't combine a kilt...
