Hunting Orange Balmoral
Hello Gentlemen,
I had a question and thought maybe some of the fine vendors and xmarkers could help. Here in Massachusetts we are required to wear blaze orange hats during some hunting seasons (shotgun deer being the big one) and rather than toss on my 3 dollar knitted hunting cap, I was thinking of trying to get a blaze orange balmoral, toorie color undecided. Any thoughts or opinions or information on where I may be able to have one made will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Nick Pratt

Get Ryan Ross you make you a bonnet out of this yarn. I thought about getting Ryan to make one for David Pope as a joke after David told us all about his rather drab hunting attire, but that's a lot of money to shell out for something that might or might not be appreciated.

I would give a call to the Scottish Tartans Museum Gift Shop and ask Ronan if Abigail or Ryan could knit one for you in an orange yarn. I am sure they can.

I'm with SlackerDrummer and Mael Coluim. You can't go wrong with a Ryan Ross bonnet!

Thanks for the thought, and although Ryan's bonnets are excellent, I'm glad you decided to forgo this particular gift! Besides, the practical purpose of wearing headgear when hunting is to have a brim that ensures the sun isn't in your eyes when _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ quail.

You should also consider talking to Diane Donald aka Unaspenser here, russetlodgeknits.com, as she does custom knits balmoral or Jacobite bonnets for around $50-60 each and has good reputation and customer service.
Not that there is anything wrong with a Ryan Ross bonnet as they are in many ways the gold standard, and would also nicely fill the bill.
