Loch Lamond
I've been enjoying Loch Lamond 12 year old, having already finished my bottle of Original and I concur that both are an excellent dram!

Love Talisker ... smokey, peaty and totally barbaric!
Those ancient U Nialls from Donegal were a randy bunch.

...and I named my last dog “Talisker”. “Tally” for short.

Tonight's toast is my last dram of cask-strength Kilchoman, in honor of my father who flew west earlier this evening.
Like Dad, it's a brutal upstart that gets in your face and shakes you pale. Like the Coors beer he served at barbecues before it was legal in Oregon, it arrived by smuggling.
Happy landings, old man. Hope the lessons you brought will stick in useful ways.
Iechyd da!

My condolences. We saw our father off in a similar manner.

I have some Aberfeldy 12 currently sitting in my decanter. I'll probably polish it off tonight. I just received a small oak cask and it should be ready to be used to age some scotch by Monday. The plan is to let the scotch age until Christmas. Now I just need to figure out which scotch to buy and let age.

Jameson's Stout Cask-Aged Irish Whiskey.
A tasty wee momentary diversion from the auld standard of Scots whusky.

An embarrassment of riches
Between my birthday, last fall, and Christmas, I find my self with an embarrassment of riches, that I am manfully struggling with 😉
... it’s a tough job, but I can’t let the angels take it all. 😏

Supplies are running low...
The quaich is empty.
I have a few drams left of the Dalwhinnie, the Dark Storm and the Four Oak (and a fair bit of the Glenmorangie) but I really need to get my hands on some more Scapa (now a firm favourite) and the Three Wood (an old one).
Usually, I fly in and out of Edinburgh (or Glasgow) about 6 or 7 times a year - last year only once - and have the chance to pick up a bottle or two.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Currently I'm keeping a beady eye on the travel restrictions, improving all the time but still a good deal of uncertainty over international travel at the moment. Hopefully, a couple of summer tours will go ahead as planned to Highlands and Islands. These include a visit to Talisker (and, time permitting, it might be possible to squeeze in Tobermory, Oban or Ben Nevis). Some of my group certainly enjoyed an unscheduled tasting at Tobermory last time around - back in 2019.
I have also just put the finishing touches to the itinerary for Distillery & Tasting tour I hope to run in the Autumn. This includes Glenturret, Arberlour, Glenfiddich, Royal Lochnagar, Dalwhinnie, Blair Atholl and Edradour, as well as visits to a Cooperage and Gordon & MacPhail, and a "whiskey walk" in Edinburgh - throw in a bit of hiking and some decent scran and I think we are sorted. Looking forward to doing this one and trying a couple of new places - if it works out, plans are already afoot to run a similar trip to Islay next spring.
Working up a bit of a thirst now...
