Well alright not a busy day today for the Saltire as there is still no flying due to Iceland landing on us. However, undaunted the gallant craft did a low level sortie through the glens to the Old Inverlochy Castle just outside Fort William.

    The main "Gate".

    The West wall.

I wonder where the Saltire will take me tomorrow?

Well things were not going too well for the Saltire's local navigator a few days ago. A couple of pictures from the seat as Jock makes his way to the doctor with a bad back! The pictures look as grey as I feel!

Maybe a quick detour here, might have the required effect?

Another grey day! I think that I have a fair bit to learn about camera settings in difficult light! Anyway, there we were at Glencoe just as it was starting to snow.

    The MacDonald Monument.

The spectacular back ground of the monument.

Jock, you are a wonderful navigator. Thanks for posting those photos of places I haven't visited yet.

    Question Curiouser and curiouser...

Just a half-educated guess, but does "An Gearasdan" translate literally to "The Garrison?" Just curious...

The site of where James Stewart was hanged and left to rot for 18 months. The "Appin Murder"(1750's) is an intriguing tale, and there is considerable doubt that the right man went to the gallows.

By the Southern end of the Ballachulish bridge on the A82, between Glencoe and Fort William.

The Well of the Seven Heads.(Well of the Heads)

To be found beside Loch Oich on the A82 between Fort William and Fort Augustus. It was here that the heads of the murderers of the Chief of the MacDonells of Keppoch were washed before being put on display. A 16th century murder and a 19th century monument.
