Recap: Hamish went into the hospital yesterday as planned to have his operation that afternoon. However, due to an emergency in the operating theater, they put it back until today. He stayed in hospital overnight so that they could get an early start with him.
I saw him this afternoon at about 6pm. He'd been back on the ward for about an hour.
The operation took five hours followed by two hours in the post-op suite. When I saw him, he was still very drowsy and under pain control. I read him some of his cards and mentioned all his friends who are sending messages of encouragement. He asked me to say hi to all of you on X Marks. So...
HI, HI, HI, HI, ......, HI, HI, HI, HI.
I was unable to find out if they'd been able to do keyhole or not, but should know tomorrow. This will have a big impact on his rate of recovery. I came away after about twenty minutes, which seemed enough for him, everything considered. I'll see him again tomorrow, by which time he'll probably feel a bit more like himself.
More when I have it,
Jim

It’s a great pity I missed this when Hamish first posted.
But I am grateful to Jim for bringing us up to date.
I am sure there are far too many names for Jim to remember, let alone for Hamish to respond to in his post-operative state.
But for the record, Hamish is in my prayers for a swift recovery and a speedy return to kilt-wearing.
A tartan dressing-gown should see him through in the interim . . . and (provided the weather plays ball) wearing nothing at all will do him no harm in the privacy of his home.
All the best, Hamish.

Don't get depressed, get well! If done arthroscopicly it will be a quick recovery, but you will quickly learn not to eat some things afterwards, as you "habits" will change.
