Kilt Pin Weight
Hey guys. I’m getting a new kilt in on Wednesday and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on weights for kilt pins. I have a pin I’d like to wear but unsure of how heavy they should be.

Some people believe that the kilt pin is supposed to hold the apron down in the wind. Well, the kilt is a wrap around garment. If the one flies up I have another right behind it. I don't have a modesty problem.
Some try to hold the kilt closed with the pin. If you pin the two aprons together you will definitely tear the kilt.
The kilt pin is bling. The kilt pin is the equivalent of a lady wearing a brooch. That little glint of jewelry in an outfit. It can be worn anywhere. Most wear it somewhere on the right side. Anywhere from up near the strap and others all the way at the bottom.

Exactly so.
A kilt pin is a nonfunctional doo-dad which (if subjected to enough situations) will almost inevitably damage the kilt.
So, I don't wear one. You could say the weight of my kilt-pin is zero!
About where you wear one, yes you can wear it anywhere. And you can wear your socks at different heights, and your kilt on backwards.
In traditional Highland Dress the kilt is worn with the pleats in the back, the hose are worn at the same height, and the kilt pin is worn a couple inches from the fringe, approximately centered on the apron (or the visible portion of the apron) or a bit further down, often centered (more or less) on a major feature of the tartan. This is about as low as you will see it:

If you'll excuse the question, but how about a PV kilt and pin? It was a revelation to me that it's simply an ornament that will mess up your kit. However I'm new to this, owning a Sport Kilt from USA Kilts.
Will the PV hold up with a pin in it?
Also, is there a way to launder a wool kilt without removing the pin which causes wear in the same spot?

OK, it is possible that some terms are getting confused.
Sport Kilts and USA Kilts are two different companies.
P/V stands for a blend of Polyester and Rayon. That would be the USA Kilt product.
Yes, you can wear a kilt pin on a USA Kilt.
No, you do not clean a wool kilt, or any other kilt for that matter, with the kilt pin in place.
