    Talking Konnichiwa from Tokyo

    Konnichiwa/feasgar math/hello from Tokyo!

Thanks for letting me join your online community.

I finally found the courage (and money) to get a kilt, and I found a lot of helpful information from this forum for navigating the process. Thank you!

Looking forward to talking with and learning from you.

    Cheers,

    Tyler

One of the former Forum Moderators used to live in Japan and wore his kilt almost daily.

I am not sure if they are still active, but at least two other forum members are Japanese.

Welcome from Western Canada. About 10 years ago I visited Japan for 10 days and wore a kilt every day. No one said anything but all the school girls wanted a picture with the strange gaijin, and practice their English.

    Red face

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!

Yeah, I imagine that young Japanese kids would be less reserved. The only time I've ever seen anyone in a kilt in Japan was during the World Rugby Cup this past summer, but I've stumbled across a few webpages for Scottish societies, bagpipe bands, highland games, and even a kiltmaker in Gifu Prefecture!

Yes, it's a muted MacDonald tartan from House of Edgar.

Here's what I've found so far, if you know of other groups/events in Japan, I'd love to hear.

from Toronto, you look wonderful in your outfit, well done. My experience with Highland wear is that even though people may not know what is correct, they recognize it when they see it. Again welcome to the forum.
