So, What are the Scots Wearing During the Current Heat Wave There?

Curious...kilts would help stay cooler...maybe with (gasp) no kilt hose and sandals???

Any fashion word from the home country on coping with the heat?

    Much appreciated.

Are they having a heat wave there? I just checked the Weather Channel and the 10-day forecast said the Highlands will have temperatures ranging from about 50F (lows) to 73F (highest I saw).

I'd kill for that kind of "heat wave".

    Sounds pretty good to me.

I've naught to speak of from Scottland.

For myself, when the mercury is rising, I opt for:
    1) A belt, instead of waistcoat. I prefer something to break up the tartan a bit, but if you don't care about that, skip the belt too.
    2) A short-sleeved button-up or Polo, my preference is for my tattersalls, they're nice, light cotton.
    3) Wool over PV, today is day one with the wool kilt, and I'm finding the 16oz wool does not get as hot, as quickly, under direct sunlight as the 13oz PV. And the wool breathes better. (That said, I still wouldn't do athletics in the wool.)
    4) Short socks, instead of hose. But I find I can wear hose in reasonable comfort up to the mid eighties.

I think it's all pretty obvious, and even though, the hose in particular, may deviate a bit from the typical traditional wear, I don't think any true Scotsmen (or anyone else) will perish for seeing your legs. The look is a wee more casual but I'm not personally going to kill myself to satisfy any style gurus.

No recent picture I am afraid. For me, the usual black brogues, the usual kilt hose worn at the normal height, 16 oz 9 yard wool kilt, tattersall long sleeved (rolled up quite often) open necked shirt, Panama and tinted glasses.

    Just like this really.

As stated in another thread varying between 25-35 in the sun in the south of Britain, and the answer is shorts and tee shirt, it's killing me. Can't wait for the cold so I can do kilted Friday's again.

I cannot speak for my companion in the picture that I have shown in this thread, but in more usual Scottish summers most, including me, would not wear a hat at all for most of the time.

Respectfully and only out of concern for my old friend, a hat is good protection from UV rays, particularly when so many Scots, yourself included, are rather fair-skinned. Hazy skies are only a poor protection, so take good care of yourself, lad!
