I find that I like the darker tartans. Those that have blue or dark green in the majority.

On Rocky's site, I like the look of "Douglas Modern"

Also in the tartan finder I like "274 Colquhoun" shown below

I second that. Green and blue... In lovely hues.

    Will,

We have Calquhoun, but in a lighter shade... the blue is a "dirty blue" (almost a grey blue) and the green is more of a "sea green"...

I can't get the damn pic to print in here... if you want, I can email it to you.

I just got the Ramsey from Rocky and it is pleated to the stripe. What's interesting is that it had a double white stripe and not a single like most tartans. The dark blue makes a look great with the double stripe in the back.

    Thanks again Rocky!

As I mentioned earlier, I have a wool Morrison ancient coming at the end of the year, and I would like a Scottish nat., but my thoughts are also turning to St.Pats day...something irish??
    still thinking..

believe it or not, I'm still wondering about plain, if I could get a kilt like the PV traditional but in a plain green PV, I think that would be nice, what say ye rocky?

    Graham...

It can be done... not fun, but it can be done. It's difficult to sew up a kilt "inside out" (how we do our traditionals) when there are no tartan lines to follow, but I've done it before (Irish Thunder Pipe Band has maroon kilts). Right now we're inundated with work and don't really have time to shop for fabric. If you can wait a month or so, I can look for you. Any particular shade of green?

    Richard...

I'm glad you liked the Ramsay. The first time I saw it I wasn't too impressed, but when I pleated it to the stripe, it took on a WHOLE different look and it has grown on me IMMENSELY since then. Where are the pics?

Since it's from USA Kilts, wouldn't "kelly green" be most fitting? You could just cut up an old news weather greenscreen board, and use that!
