So far my "Other Nice Kilt" is the Auld Lang Syne Grey from Scottishkilts.net.
It is much softer than the picture shows. It has a thin red stripe that show up better in the Scottishkilts site. (See pic at my link below)

Another one that has impressed me is the County Cavan that several others have shown in their pictures.

For me, from the standpoint of simple esthetics, it's a toss-up between Nova Scotia and Xmarksthescot. The black and blue Stewart variants run a close second. My least favorite, are those with a small sett as I find them too busy.

As has been said, it's difficult to choose from the vast selection set of really fantastic tartans.

I don't have a family tartan, so I chose the 21st Century tartan from Geoffey. Very nice.

My favorite tartan other than my own is the xmarks tartan, I hear there are problems with it but that makes it all the better. Let Rocky figure out the issues, my xmarks kilt will be perfect for me. This board has a few problem (children) so should the tartan. I think Gordon and company did a great job (after seeing fabric from run one) This board is great and so will my xmarks kilt be
