    Great thread all. You do learn a lot on Xmarks! On this thread particularly the difference between military and standard box pleats. All good stuff.

    You know, an X-Kilt with a wider apron, in tweed, "double-box pleated" (not military pleating) would be a really nice kilt. It would require some adjusting from the basic instructions, but nothing a clever fellow couldn't figure out.

    We offer box pleats as an option with all the kilts we make, though they are quite simple and unlined. The picture linked below is the box pleated Phillabeg I wear myself:
