Had the most wonderful Sunday a father could have

My daughter moved into her own apartment a little while ago, since then I don't see her nearly often enough. We gave her a good set of roots and wings so she's well grounded and yet enjoys taking chances. I know she will turn out well.

Recently I started guitar lessons. I figured after years of hacking away at it I should finally learn how to play properly. My daughter is in college studying to be a music educator so I've got plenty to talk about with her now.

Anyway, yesterday I filled the trunk with laundry and groceries, put my guitar in the car and went off to spend the most pleasant day with my daughter. She pampered me by doing my laundry for me. I pampered her by making some Thai chicken to snack on while I prepared some curried lamb and noodles for dinner. In between bites of chicken and loads of laundry we spent about an hour and a half playing duets for guitar and flute. On some of them I even sounded like I knew what I was doing.

    I can't wait for next Sunday !!

Not always easy to keep up that close relationship with our "adult" children! Sounds like you're doing great! Keep up the good work!

That sounds like a wonderful day. Cherish those and hold them close to your heart. I have two daughters, 20 & 25, in the bay area and I am in San Diego. I know they love me and I am very proud of them out on their own and knocking the world on its ***, but I miss the little league and the soccer and the girls scouts and other times together. It seems like only a short time since I held those little hands in my large ones and felt the trust flow up into my heart. It is a strange conundrum, we are proud when they walk and scared when they run. And it seems they run from our homes and our arms. Just feel blessed to have her and give her all the time she will let you give her.

Daughters are wonderful. Especially if they are older than 14!
