I love the Balmorals. Very creative. Comment on the jacket/waistcoat. I know you say it is meant to a waistcoat. I wonder was that the intention, or the look after you made it? There have been a lot of DIY jackets on the forum. Most of them are too short (it seems to me). If you look at an Argyle, they are only a couple of inches shorter than a regular sports jacket. It is the tailoring and sporran opening that seems to make the difference. (Not meant to be critical.)

very smart. And thanks for posting the pic of your waistcoat jacket on my other thread. It helped inspire me to get a needle and thread out...(DIY 'Blood, sweat and tears').

This one was intended as a VERY simple, clean jacket that ended just at the bottom of the kilt "waist band" (on a traditional kilt).
It was a "different" look that I just wanted to try.

I am planning to buy a "nice" REAL Argyle soon. I also have a half-dozen jackets to mod. At least one more will be a "waistjacket" and most will be "normal" rounded cuts.

Part of my idea was a jacket that looks good with a kilt and also works witha belted plaid.
