Another "Sporran-like" Waist Pack

Duluth Trading Co www.duluthtrading.com is offering what they call a ballistic nylon travel waist pack for $26.50 USD. Their product number 37009.

Reminds me of the Stillwater Nightstalker sporran with a bit more pockets.

Back side has a 3"W x 2 1/4H belt loop that should work great with a sorran strap. Overall size is 6"W x2"D x 7"H which is an inch shorter in height than the Nightstalker. Other dimensions are the same or very close.

I don't know. For casual wear, probably. I don't feel bad wearing my nightstalker with a jacket, but I don't think the duluth would look right.

It looks like it would be great with a windbreaker or sweater, or with a t-shirt on a hot day.

Agreed, I don't feel it would be good for "dress" wear.

As a «sporran» I wear a bag from www.mec.ca, item number 4009-376.
You'll see it's supposed to be a over the shoulder bag, but it can be adjusted to fit around my waist.

I dig the Duluth bag, and around here "formal" means Wal Mart or the Chinese Buffet after 1800.

Still, I like my (second) nightstalker so much that I don't see the need. But it is a great idea for somebody looking for a different look. Nice Find.

Well, it arrived. Second time the Duluth Trading catalog has said one thing and delivered another. First time the hemp shirts had less % hemp than advertised.
This time the waist pack that the catalog says measures 6"x7" actually measures 5" x 6 1/2" Significantly smaller than the Stilwater ballistic nylon (soon leather puleeze!!)
The catalog also isn't obvious that the front flap has a Duluth Trading logo embroidered on it. Missed that. The catalog sketch shows what appears to me to be multiple pen slots, there is one. The phone holder is 2 1/2' x 4" x 3/4" but that tapers to a point.
The outer zip compartment has a vertical zipper on the side, convenient for left handed people. The middle zip compartment is top opening and has a mesh pocket inside the front wall. The main back (largest) zip compartment has soft fuzzy stuff in the lining and a pocket against the back wall.
The whole thing is the size of my hand with my fingers spread.
The back wide belt loop should work fine for a sporran strap or you could even use the nylon belt that hooks to the plastic D rings on each side of the top.
So, lots of stuff, just a lot smaller than advertised and for tiny narrow cell phones.
