Going to Germany

I lived in Germany and never had any problems people are great and no one cares realy they assume you are from scotland, thats about all I ever noticed. I was at Lansthul (sp)

I'll take two my two UKs (khaki and dk green). Both of these go well with brown shoes. If I bring one of my few tartan kilts I'll need my black shoes and accessories because I don't have any tartans that look right with brown accessories (yet). I'm trying to pack light (for once) and bringing a spare pair of shoes and a sporran to wear only in the evenings goes against my pack-light instincts.

Customer & supplier visits will be in trousers; in my business conventional male dress is expected. Anything else would be distracting and probably detrimental to my longevity at the company. I need a couple years more to pay off the house, so I still need my job.

Anyway, off I go. Early tomorrow morning I head out for a week of a LOT of drving and business in Germany. It will be an adventure! (I'll report back in when I return.)

I know a young lady in Gottingen. She was an exchange student that lived with us for a year. She just visited here with her fiance. She saw me in my kilt when she visited. She took a couple of pictures to take home and show her parents. Saxony-Anhalt is a beautiful section of Germany. Take lots of pictures.

I'm sure a trad. Kilt will be fine. In a utility kilt you'll certainly will have more explaining to do and older Germans will plainly consider it a skirt. I left Germany three years ago and up until then I've never seen anyone wearing one of the latter kilts.

Had a great time in Germany!! Beautiful country, very nice people, and smooth sailing on the autobahn - I'm glad we hired a car instead of traveling by train!

Wore the utilikilt to travel, but not while touring or doing business. My travel partner/business colleague was just enough uncomfortable with it that I didn't want to add more stress to his travel experience.

When I did wear the responses were very pleasant. Got a LOT of stares from any older gentlemen, some appeared to be rather dissapproving, but that's alright.

Good to be home.
