Actually, Rocky is right on point.

I liken the average halloween costumer to the eBay casual kilt wearer:

They both want to look cool, but they're not quite sure of how to do it or what it should cost.

You can't put a price on quality.

For those who still aren't sure of who we are or what we're about, here are a couple trailers for a documentary that is about to be release about us, the Fighting 501st!

    and the latest trailer

BTW, guys, I am not some uptight nerd (i.e. "Darth Nihlius" on Howard Stern). We have a great time and don't hurt anyone.

Plus, we are proud to celebrate our Celtic heritage.

Don't get me wrong, I think its wonderful! But kilts are expensive and 48 of them is more than just a Halloween costume, I assume.

So, I was wondering why they want to spend what seems like a lot of money on an article of clothing that is not true to the character. I'm just curious as to why they want to do this. (and when is the parade!!!!!)

Actually, I think the kilt goes quite well with the Stormtrooper armor.

If you go with the more casual kilts, those are about $100.00. Yes?
$100.00 times 48 = $4800.00. That's not a casual decision. Well, not in my wallet.

    What's in YOUR wallet? lol

Our kilts were much cheaper than our costumes.

Let me put it this way, when George Lucas needs "baddies" for an official event, he calls us (the 501st).

As far as the kilts go, they are not a costume.

Our particular sub-group, the Kilted Trooper Brigade, embrace our Celtic heritage just as everyone on here does.

We don't walk around in armor and kilts all the time. Just at a con or special event.

I'm willing to bet that someone on this board has enjoyed a pint with one of our many members and didn't even know it.

    Now I understand

You know, I thought at first that it was kind of funny. Stormtroopers in kilts. Hah! But after watching the trailer, I understand the public service that they provide. I was really impressed with the hospital scenes and the way the children's eyes lit up when the troopers and Darth Vader entered the room. Way to go guys, I salute you!
Would it look better with the leg armor under the kilt? Maybe the kilt could be worn as a unit identifier. Kind of like todays shoulder patches.

By the way, I was in Iraq with the 501st Military Intelligence Battalion in 2003 and 2006. The unit crest is tattooed on my leg.

    Thanks.

Actually, we are only a small part of the main organization (the 501st Legion). They are the one's that are on "official business". We (the Kilted Trooper Brigade) are more of a social group.

One of the things, besides kilts, that's synonymous with us is the Celtic Imperial Cog.

More than one of our members had it done as a tattoo..

BTW, thank you for your service!

    Sláinte!

I've got to show this to my 1SG. He's REALLY big into Star Wars. With a full sleeve of Stormtroopers and the other sleeve and one lower leg of other Star Wars scenes. His office is even decorated with Star Wars figures and toys. He'll be impressed.

BTW his mother's side is Irish and I've almost got him talked into buying a Utilikilt. He's jealous of the way the my kilt draws the ladies.
