Since you are in lederhosen country, I suggest you visit a vendor who sells such. I have 2 pair of hose that I picked up at such a store here in Leavenworth, Washington. They are wool and fit my tree trunk legs and I like them even if they are off white (creme) and these even have some fancy design on the top so will have right and left socks.

I beg to differ . Lederhosen are a bavarian custom - I live in Baden-Württemberg (or the former Kurpfalz, now northern Baden to be precise). So there are not many shops to buy Lederhosen accessories around here. ;)
Well ok, in Heidelberg you can probably find any touristy business you want, but those are usually of shoddy quality.

Ah you're Schwäbisch! My wife's sister has lived in a small village near Stuttgart for over 30 years. We've over there every couple of years to visit and party hearty! Ever heard of the band Hiss? Fun band! We know Stefan.

Anyway, kilt hose... Gaelic Themes and Lochcarron kilt hose fit my 18" calves just fine. You should be able to find some on the Irish eBay: shop.ebay.ie. If not, Google "Lochcarron kilt hose" and you should find somewhere to buy from on your side of the pond.

    Good luck.

Well, Badisch would be more correct ;) But Schwäbisch will do - as long as nobody takes me for a Bayer ;)

My calves are 17" inches or so around. I have a pair of these:

They fit great and look good and have some stretch to them. Pretty affordable so you could buy a couple of pairs and not break the bank. Though at some point, definitely save up for a really nice pair of hose, there is no comparison.

Just FYI - My kilt hose from W.Brewin Co. arrived and they fit perfectly. I don't have anything else to compare them to, but I like them. They fit like a glove, look good and they are not too thick (which I rather like as its getting quite hot around here ~28°C predicted today and tomorrow)
Hope the hose from the College of Piping arrive soon, too.

Now to find some garters (and flashes) that fit my calves ...

    You can always try Kniebundhosen-Strümpfe.
I got a pair in a shop for hunting gear, they work perfectly with a kilt!

BTW I lived in HD in 1984 - 88, studied at the university.
    My wife is from Weinheim.
And I also wear WBrewin Hose, for that money the best I think.

Update: I just got the piper kilt hose from the college of piping. Unfortunately, they don't fit my calves.
It's close, but I can't pull them up over my calves without risking to damage them.
So 19" calves are to much for the college of piping piper hose.
Anybody want some large navy blue and large arran piper hose? ;)
