What to wear to a wedding?

Hi guys. My cousins weddings coming up and I've got quite a few things that I could wear on the upper half. The thing is - I realise everyones got a difference of opinion of what's suitable for a daytime wedding with a kilt.
Some say the Argyll is the way to go - Prince Charlie is too formal; where as some people may suggest the Argyll is too casual.

Basically I'm wondering what you guys generally wear to daytime weddings - and what your thoughts are on whats relevant to the event.

I've basically got to decide to go with:
Dark green Prince Charlie, 5 button waistcoat, silk cravat.
Black Argyll, 5 button waistcoat, silk tie.
Black Argyll, 5 button waistcoat, silk cravat.
Dark green Prince Charlie, 3 button waistcoat, black bow tie. (personally I don't like this option too much)

I've also got a navy Prince Charlie but the green one matches my kilt better.

    What do you wear?
    and
    What should I wear?

I think the tweed would be just the thing!

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

    I'm with Splashie!

However if you don't have a tweed jacket might I suggest the black argyll with a silk tie, no waist coat and a belt with waist plate?

    Cheers

Thanks for the input Jamie. I don't really like the look of Argylls with no waistcoat - unless I was going quite informal with a black Argyll, black shirt and no tie.
I realise the waistcoat adds a bit of formality - just as it does to a suit but I'm guessing that everyone else at the wedding will be formal to the same standard. After all - women in Scotland tend to wear formal evening dresses to weddings and men tend to put on their best suit (if not going kilted) - waistcoat or not.
At the moment I dont think I would go as formal as a Prince Charlie but I think the waistcoat with an Argyll is a nice, formal touch.
I'm interested to hear your views on this though.

I'd say wear a tweed Argyll with a waistcoat, a wool tie in one colour a shirt with cuff links a pair of hose that pick up a secondary colour of the kilt a day wear sporran and a nice pair of polished shoes. Something like this (note this was my wedding, hence the sealskin sporran):

McMurdo & Panache have nailed it. Anything else would be a sartorial faux pas.

If it is a formal wedding, in other words the groom and guests might be wearing morning suits for example, then a black barathea, silver buttoned argyll with four in hand tie would be worn. Any other wedding, a tweed argyll on its own, or , with waistcoat is perfect.

Yes - I probably should have said. I have been told he's wearing a morning suit.

I dont plan to own a tweed Argyll at the time of the wedding so this isnt really an option for me... although I'm sure many of you guys like to wear them to these events. I'm desperate to show off my Prince Charlie but I realise it's considered too formal... although I realise many people wear their most formal gear to weddings and some do not.
