New Celtic Woman special
Just finished listening to a new Celtic Woman special on PBS. They have often had an Irish piper, but this show has a number of Scottish pipers, in various kilts. I am afraid I could not identify which tartans. Very nicely done however. The Celtic Woman group is Irish. Nice to see a little pan-Celtic solidarity (says the American of Welsh, Irish, Scottish and even a trace of Cornwall heritage)

My wife and I like the Celtic Women, she is scanning the channels as I type to try to find if the program will be aired again.

I agree it's good to see some cooperation among celts—we don't have a history of doing that. However, in Spokane things are different. Celtic Music Spokane (an organization that I started while I was president of the St Andrew's Society) has both Irish and Scottish groups who perform at the Bing Theater. I''m very proud of this group and how they have grown into the primer music sponsoring group for the whole Celtic community here.

I keep waiting for that little one with the fiddle to poke somebody's eye out with the end of the bow while she's dancing around.

We watched a little bit of the new show last night, Songs from the Heart. Is it me or are the vocals in this show recorded. They sound so studio-like. The whole thought of it kind of spoiled the moment and 30 minutes in, we were watching something else.

That little one is dangerous! Several times during the live show, I was fearful for the other musicians on stage. She nearly took out the uilleann piper's head off a few times. She's like an insane muppet or something.

I do believe the vocals are recorded, and I'm tempted to believe the fiddling is, too. However, the novelty of the "Celtic Woman" shows is so strong that I always enjoy watching them. The "Songs from the Heart" has some new singers, which were very good, as always.
This is pledge drive week for PBS, so, as mentioned before, it'll be on again.

I tend to think the vocals are NOT lip synced. I have some hearing lossand I use lip reading to supplement my hearing for voices in noisy environments. As a resukt, even the slightest mis-timing of voice and lip movement is very jarring to me. I don't get that at all with Celtic Woman. I believe the concert recording quality is a cut above the usual, which makes it sound less like in concert and more like a studio recording.
Not only are their voices wonderful, they have some great backup musicians. I love their drummers.
And as a man who appreciates a nice pair of shoulders on a woman, I love the costumes.
