Although there is no restriction on the wearing of the MacIntyre Hunting and the (Red) MacIntyre tartans, all (except me) are restricted from wearing my own kilts.

However, I'm pretty sure I've never seen the "Agryll" spelling used. :-)
Argyle is the archaic/historic spelling; one of my great-great-grandmothers' has "Argyleshire, Scotland" listed as her place of birth on her tombstone.

As an active member of the U.S. ARMY I looked at the newest AR670-1 and it doesn't say anything about wearing the kilt as a duty or dress uniform until it is put in the AR670-1 it is not allowed. So if anyone has a merorandum stating it is authorized please let me know so i can run around in a military installation in my kilt. As for Cameron of Lochiel I would never wear. It is reserved the Clan Chief of Cameron and direct family members.

A restricted tartan is one that is limited as to who may wear it-- Balmoral Tartan being a perfect example of a restricted tartan. Only those to whom the Queen has given permission may wear it.

In my opinion I do not believe that there is such a thing as a prohibited tartan, although I may be in error. Technically a chief could prohibit his followers from wearing a specific tartan, say a fashion tartan that used the clan's name but without the authority of the chief. The problem is, this sort of prohibition is virtually unenforceable-- people will buy, and wear, what they want.
