I just received the following communique from contacts within the St. Andrew's Society:

Attention Lads & Lassies, cue the bagpipes, as we enjoy a round of the game the Scots invented and Americans everywhere embrace...Golf...The Kilted Golf Tournament is almost here!

In keeping with the traditions and the celebration of Robert Burns, the Scottish games group is hosting the golf tournament Friday as a lead in to the Burns dinner on Saturday. We hope that Saint Andrews members and their families will enjoy coming out and swinging a club for charity and help kickoff the Burns weekend. Come enjoy a great game of golf at one of our more venerable local courses (no kilt required).

This year The Northeast Florida Scottish Games and Festival host the The Kilted Golf Tournament at The World Golf Village's Slammer and Squire on January 29th, 2010. Registration begins at 10:30am and a shotgun start marks the beginning of the tournament at 1:00pm. The Kilted Golf Tourney is the kickoff event—one of many, thru January and February—which culminate in late February with The Northeast Florida Scottish Games. The proceeds from the Kilted Golf Tournament and the Scottish Games help sponsor the games themselves and raise funds for over a dozen charities, scholarships and groups the games support. For the low rate of $99 golfing participants enjoy not only a round of golf (cart fees and driving range privileges included), but a boxed lunch and later a delicious chef prepared awards banquet. The banquet provides a great place to discuss the best shots of the day, and award to the winners the prizes and raffle items that are part of the event. Please Come out and swing a club for charity and enjoy a wee bit of fun in the process.
