    U of A tartan

Not exactly a kilt night or meetup, but then again, this is a very local/regional thread that's pretty much specific to Albertans.

Has anyone ever seen the University of Alberta tartan (other than in a picture)?

It was organized by Burnetts & Struth. Would make a mighty fine kilt, IMO... Only limiting factor would likely be cost though...

I did consider getting a kilt in that tartan, since I've been a U of Alberta employee for over 21 years (the longest I'd previously lived anywhere else was a little over three years), but ... it's too green for my tastes. I have seen (in close proximity) a dress made by the guy who designed the tartan, and didn't like it all that much, which perhaps affected my view of the tartan itself; however, I may eventually get a tie or scarf in the tartan, just because...

Wow! No, I'm afraid I can't agree, Garrett... That dress is fantastic!!! The tartan is nice too -- I like the fact that it's very green.

Have you considered an Alberta tartan instead? Still green and gold -- but not quite as much. I think.

I like the Alberta provincial tartan quite a bit, and considered that for my next kilt. However, the sett is really small and doesn't work well for a box pleat, so I ultimately chose something else.
