The pv material made by Marton Mills in the UK is an excellent alternative to wool for summer wear. The MMs pv will not pill or wear like other kinds of pv. I have had a USAK Casual kilt, which is made of MM's pv, for over three years and it looks as good as it did when new.

There are two US vendors I know of who use Marton Mills pv: USA Kilts and Skye Highland Outfitters. Both offer a casual 4 to 5-yard pv kilt as well as an 8-yard pv kilt.

Here are the links to both vendors:

    Skye Highland Outfitters: http://www.skyehighlandoutfitters.com/Skye_Kilts.html

I almost forgot about the sandal question. Yes, several of us in the southern US wear sandals (no socks) with a kilt.

Huh, that's funny. That's exactly what we say about these parts. Actually we say, "The best place on earth".

Not too fond of the box pleat look actually. Too Roman, but I haven't seen it in motion yet.

I've seen some pictures since my OP. Yeah, looks fine to me.

Oh there's plenty to be found alright. TOO many. Some look just smashing even though they differ slightly in colour compliment while others seem to be hideous. Just want to make sure I don't end up with one of the few hideous ones. That's HoE as far as I can see, at least for Clanranald.

Good to know. and from the USAK link I see that the tartan options are clearly delineated. Very helpful. TYVM!
