Bonnet by Ryan Ross in the Works

Yesterday I took a day off from working in the Forge, scooted down the mountain and delivered some crosses and pendants to Matt Newsome at the Scottish Tartans Museum and Gift Shop in Franklin. After some great chat with Matt and Ronan and Walter (and a howdy to a hard-working Chuck), I sidled over to the handcraft and artisan area of the Gift Shop.

I took that opportunity to pick up and fondle a Ryan Ross bonnet. Yep, very excellent heft, feel, and workmanship. (See http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...ak-peek-58869/)

So, I trucked down the street to Virginia Murphy's yarn shop and looked over her inventory of yarns. I selected this color Cascade 220 wool heather yarn (9450):

Now Ryan is going to felt my bonnet. That is cool.

You're gonna like that bonnet, and so will everyone who sees it.

I continue to be impressed with Ryan's bonnets. In case anyone missed where they are available in our gift shop:

Well, I found myself in Downtown Franklin yesterday morning and made an STM visit, then strolled down the street to make a yarn run! Mark, you made a wonderful color choice and your bonnet is now underway!

Mark and I did a trade. I'm knitting up a bonnet and matching set of garters for the famous Tyger metalsmith. Mark has made for me one of his beautiful buckles. I tried for quite some time to take a picture that does his work justice, but this is the best I could come up with:

The workmanship is exquisite, and I'm very proud to own such a great example of hand craftsmanship (you can have a look at more of Mark's work right here: http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/tygerforge.htm ). I'm having a belt made for it very soon, and I can't wait.. I'll probably end up with a set of belts, actually, to allow me to wear this buckle more often- a black and a dark brown.

    Thanks again, Mark!
