Will Scotch Whisky Revive Britain's Tanked Economy?

Ah...the "gateway scotch"!

And a classic.

Try Travis's recommendation...Highland Park has a lot of depth, with rich flavor and heavy smoke. I keep a bottle of Cragganmore for snowboarding season, what Dale said about seasonal scotch drinking is right on...winter is a great time for a Lagavulin, too. Dalmore is another good Highland, particularly if you know a girl who appreciates a good Scotch...more fruit, floral, chocolate flavors there than Highland Park. Macallan is a beauty as well...pick up a bottle of 18 year when you're feeling solvent or the need to indulge, you won't regret it.

"Cigarettes, whiskey, and wild, wild women!" Since I don't smoke, I'll split the difference between the other two.

...and I think the British government would agree with me.

I have no quarrels with helping out the British economy in such a way. In fact, I have been since I turned 21. Speaking of 21, I always have a bottle on hand...

Seems as if you would have enjoyed a visit to (pre-war) Nagasaki where, according to the old song, “the fellers chew tobaccy and the women whacky-whacky-woo”!
Or perhaps you would prefer it more peaceful, as in the Big Rock Candy Mountains, with the buzzing of the bees in the cigarette trees (which you won’t pick from), where the cops all have wooden legs, the bulldogs all have rubber teeth, and the hens lay soft-boiled eggs.

I've often thought that the Irish government should get serious and invest in the Whiskey industry again.
The Scottish have it right when it comes to tourism, I remember reading that they make almost 6 billion Pounds from tourism, much of that down to Whiskey and golf.
With China and a new breed of middle class on the rise Scottish Whisky sales can only rise.

It is strange that the Irish government is not investing in its whiskey industry, or in its golf tourism market.
Certainly it draws a great many tourists who simply want to trace their Irish roots, but there is more to Ireland than ancestors!
