Kelly uses our Meile machine to do mine, but it has some kind of setting where the drum fills a little with water, then rotates 180 degrees every minute, then sits, then rotates again. This allows for the same kind of motion as doing it by hand yourself.
Again, don't risk it unless you're 100% sure of what you're doing. I don't want to be the cause of a ruined kilt.
My brother's has a similar setting. Which is why I mentioned it.

DON'T Dry clean PV! There's a teflon coating that drycleaning will remove.

I figured as much. I just didn't want someone to read "front loaders are OK" and throw their kilt in.

Geoff is right. DO NOT dry clean PV. What Antonio is asking about is a WOOL kilt.

What do you recommend for a PV kilt Rocky?

Machine wash cold (on "delicates" if possible) with like colors
DO NOT use Fabric Softener
Lay flat to dry
Again... straighten out the pleats WHILE THEY'RE DAMP and it will be much easier to iron when dry.
The mill (that weaves the fabric) says dry cleaning is OK, but I NEVER recommend dry cleaning as the chemicals used tend to take the teflon coating off the fabric.

You're right Rocky, he was talking about wool. My bad.
As far as clean a USAK casual in PV, this is what I do.
Lay kilt flat in bathtub.
Run enough lukewarm water into the tub to cover the kilt 1-2 inches deep.
Add a small amount of Woolite or other mild detergent. I repeat, SMALL amount. Due to the teflon coating, soil does not stick to the fabric very strongly, so only a small amount of detergent and gentle swishing is all that is needed to get it off. More soap is just more to rinse out.
GENTLY swish kilt through the soapy water.
Drain, refill tub.
Gently swish again.
Drain, refill tub. There should be little if any soap left at this point. If there is, remember next time to use less soap.
Once soap is gone I have a drying rack I stand up in the tub, with the kilt clothes pinned around the top, so the pleat hang straight down. I adjust the hang of the pleats to make sure they are straight by hand if necessary. In a few hours, take kilt off drying rack, and put on or in closet. No ironing, or very minimal ironing is necessary, USAK casuals hold their pleats EXCELLENTLY.
BTW, the reason I don't lay it flat to dry is I don't have anyplace other than the floor big enough to lay out a kilt, and wet wool or PV is going to raise h3ll with wood floors.
