Though my current sgian dubh has a rather generous antler crown handle that doesn't allow me to shove it deeply into my hose top, I generally like about 2/3 of the handle hidden, which I guess equates (more or less) to Jock's inch and a tad

I always like to show enough to make people feel a little cautious about asking me why I'm wearing a skirt.

    Sounds about right to me.

I don't generally think about how much of mine is showing. I have rather a large antler as my handle on my sgian brew so you can see a fair sized chunk showing. I did have a look through my photos but I don't have any of me actually wearing it never mind a close up look.

This is the one I usually wear. Couldn't find any good pics of me wearing it, but it has a natural stop leaving about 2/3 showing(about 2 1/2"). It has never even come close to falling out.

Not a great pic but you can see how much shows.
