    Happy Burns Day!

A very happy Robert Burns Day to all Xmarks members and lurkers! May we take a little personal time to celebrate the great man's life, his poetry, and his very real humanity.

I'm raising a cup of kindness, giving a rose to a field mouse and taking my two dogs out for a walk while eating a haggis sandwich!

Seriously, it IS rather inspiring that Burns is held in such high regard, isn't it. Such a body of work from someone who, sadly, led such a brief life. I think that the fella doesn't get the credit that he deserves when poetry is taught in our schools....even the Hip Hop poets should appreciate that the guy was one of the pioneers that wrote in his vernacular.

If you're a younger person, or even if you're not: I'm not much of a fan of The Catcher In The Rye, but one of the sincerest compliments I've ever seen made to him is made in that book. Ever since reading it, I've always used his full name, without any dimnitutives, just as Holden Caulfield does.

Happy Burns day to one and all.

As with last year, I have graced the office with my kilt (even though it was -25C with the wind chill this am) as well as shortbread cookies!

5 batches of short bread baked last night, with each successive batch and one more dram, the cookies shape got more distorted... ;-)

Will be lifting a wee dram again this evening!

We are in the same city but today you are the better man- no kilts for me in this weather. Mind you I do a lengthy walk to work, by choice, but no excuses. And it also snowed today so there was lots of slush flying about- but no excuses. I should have come here in a kilt and wearing ghillie brogues to allow the salt water to drain out of my hose! Burns rules!
