    Question Sporran strap issue

I am a gentleman of substance. So I have some issues with my sporran belt/chain.
    (1) when I sit the sporran sits on my lap leaving slack for the strap to slip lower and then once I stand my sporran is much lower than desired and needs to be readjusted.

    (2) the sporran slips down to where the strap is pulling the kilt under my gut. Thus making my belly look HUGE!

I don't have belt loops on my current kilt so using belt loops to hold the sporran up isn't a option. I also HATE sporran hangers. For what ever reason I just don't like the look.

Does anyone else have this issue? What do you do? I
Am currently designing a solution but wanted to see if I am over thinking things.

Yes! I hate sporran hangers, too. Don't know what can be done about it, though.

It sounds to me like you might not be wearing your sporran strap tight enough. Try tightening up on the chain, and wearing the sporran a bit higher and see if that doesn't help.

Same here. My problem with them is 2 things- first, they slide around like crazy, and second, they look intrusive. I solved these problems by designing and making my own.

Many men push their sporran on to their hip while sitting. Just an idea.

I agree that tightening the whole thing and moving it up is something you might try. Also, you can make a belt keeper similar to what cops wear to keep their gun belts fastened to their trouser belts might help. It would basically be a small strap that goes around your kilt belt and sporran strap to hold them together..

I hang the sporran from the kilt belt [bespoke]...old school similar to the Ferguson-Britt sporrans.

Running the sporran strap under one of the kilt straps is one way of making it stay put. Suggestion courtesy of Barb T. and Elsie.
