    MacMillan Armorial

Scott has seen an earlier version of this, but I've put up on line a revised edition of an armorial of all the MacMillan arms I've been able to find from all sources. It can be visited at
    http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeohzt4/M...Armorial5.html

You'll see Rathdown's arms about halfway down the page. The empty images are for the arms of the chief's younger brothers; I don't have the colors of the assigned bordures for them just yet. My own arms are toward the bottom.

Very interesting. I find the topic of heraldry to be fascinating, but have no real knowledge or learning of it. I read just enuff to appreciate the changes sometimes done, but do not have a working knowledge of the rules. Thank you for sharing.

    Well done kinsman!

Joe-- that's quite an outstanding achievement. I now have to find room in my library for four more shields!

Based on a conversation with Scott and a discovery of something I'd forgotten in my files, I've done an update doing two things:

    1. Deleting the arms of the current chiefs younger brothers and younger son. What I had were the hypothetical arms based on the normal Stoddart differencing system, but they have apparently not been matriculated in Lyon Register and I didn't want to state incorrectly that they had.

    2. Adding the arms that appear on the bookplate of William C. McMillan, a prominent Detroit industrialist of the early 20th century. William's father was Senator James McMillan, who chaired the commission that laid out the monumental/ceremonial areas of Washington, DC, as we know them today.
