Mr. Scott the Scotsman con costume

I'm slowly working on a con costume (dragon con etc) just for fun. I'm going to call it Mr. Scott the Scotsman. Plain and simple, a uniform similar to the ones in Star Trek the original series from the waist up, a kilt (I have Maclaren Tartan right now) black leather sporran with a star fleet crest (still need to make) black kilt hose, red flashes, black shoes and of course a flask of good scotch. should be fun. I'll post photos when I have them.

Great fun! Sounds like you actually need some Skagaran Whisky for that flask...although there were some intriguing recipes for various concoctions of port and whatever that resemble blood in another thread several weeks back...perhaps some Klingon Blood Wine?

Although I have not worn it in years, I have the Class A tunic from the 1960's in red. I bought it a while back at a Con. The only inaccuracy to it is the gold trim. It is too wide. I have worn it to cons on occasion.

Now, while I think the black hose looks better with it, if I remember correctly Scotty did the unspeakable and wore white hose. I wouldn't want to get you in trouble with the rest of the forum by suggesting you do the same. Perhaps opinions of the dreaded beasts will have changed by the 23rd century.

Have fun. If I ever actually make it to Dragon Con, we will have to toast each other with Saurian Brandy.

Here's a link to the Star Trek Wiki on kilts: http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Kilt . There is a picture of Mr. Scott from the original series in his kilt.
